Lake Martin, Alabama is a boater’s dream with its sprawling 44,000 acres of shimmering water and over 800 miles of shoreline. From lively party spots to serene coves, this lake offers endless destinations for tying up, dining, grabbing a drink or simply soaking in the scenery.  Whether you’re a seasoned local or a first time visitor, here are my top 15 hang out spots to explore by boat on Lake Martin.

 

#1 Chimney Rock

The crown jewel of Lake Martin, Chimney Rock (often called Acapulco Rock as it’s real name) is a boater’s rite of passage. Located near the Ridge Marina, its graffiti covered cliffs and deep waters (up to 150 feet) draw crowds for swimming, cliff jumping, and socializing.  Tie up early on weekends to secure a spot this iconic hangout buzzes with music and energy. #2 Big Beach

Big Beach has emerged as the lake’s premier gathering spot, rivaling Chimney Rock’s legendary status. Located in open water on the North side of the lake, it’s a boater’s playground where you can raft up, float, and enjoy the day. The expansive beach and lively crowd make it a must visit for a day on the lake.

#3 Chuck’s Pizza

Dock at Chuck’s Marina in Dadeville for a laid back vibe and a delicious meal at Chuckwalla’s Pizza. With plenty of slips in the front and around back, it’s easy to pull up for a gourmet pizza like the Acapulco or a cold drink at the open air bar. Get a front row table to watch the boats dock and catch some live music on the stage.

#4 The Landing at Parker Creek

The Landing at Parker Creek  is a trendy hotspot known for its signature Bushwackers, They have an incredible menu and unbeatable lake views. New for 2025, they have made some fantastic renovations over the winter. New paint scheme, tables, chairs, and the biggest one being a complete overhaul of the bar, doubling the bar space and complete with beautiful granite countertops to accompany full dining service barside.  They have a great beach area and cornhole for a family friendly atmosphere.

The Landing Parker Creek

#5 Peanut Point

A Lake Martin tradition since 1988, Peanut Point is the go-to for boiled peanuts, classic or Cajun style. Open weekends from Memorial Day to Labor Day, this quick stop lets you pull up, buy some nuts, and cruise on. Cash Only, so come prepared.  It’s a low key hangout with a local flavor. Toss your shells in the water and watch the fish gobble them up!

#6 Kowaliga Restaurant

Dock at Kowaliga Marina and step into Kowaliga Restaurant for fresh seafood and stunning sunsets. With ties to Hank Williams’ “Kaw-Liga,” this spot blends history with waterfront charm. It’s ideal for a relaxed meal or a scenic evening hangout.  They have a great beach area for some of the best sunsets on the lake.

#7 Goat Island

Near Martin Dam, Goat Island offers a peaceful escape with multiple beaches, secluded coves to anchor and even a rope swing.  Anchor nearby to swim or enjoy the calm waters. #8 Pirate Island

At the mouth of Madwind Creek, Pirate Island is a playful hangout adorned with pirate flags, a cannon, treasure chest and mischievous pirate skeletons by local caretakers. Explore the small island, snap photos, or anchor for a swim, it’s a fun, offbeat stop with a chill vibe.

#9 The Social at Lake Martin

The Social at Anchor Bay Marina offers docks and a casual waterfront eatery. Tie up for burgers, a mahi sandwich, shrimp basket and lake views in a lively setting. It’s a solid pick for a meal break or a fun evening with friends.  They often have live local music artists.   The Social has a wide variety of food and specialty drinks including the “Lake Water”, a vibrant blue cocktail which is my personal favorite.

#10 D.A.R.E. Power Park

Six miles west of Dadeville, D.A.R.E. Power Park is a 30 acre day. use gem with a sandy cove, docks, a large playground and picnic areas. Open daily from Memorial Day to Labor Day, it’s a quiet spot for families or boaters seeking a natural retreat or a picnic stop for little ones to run their energy out at the playground.

#12 Boondocks Bay Pine

Boondocks at Bay Pine is a favorite waterfront hangout offering Hunt Brothers Pizza, wings, and hot dogs for the 2025 season.   They have a big selection frozen daiquiri flavors including; Lake Martin Sunrise, Bushwacker, Margarita, Dreamsicle, Pina Colada
and Strawberry Daiquiri . This boat up bar is known for its welcoming atmosphere, live music, and scenic views, making it a perfect stop for boaters looking to refuel and hang out.

#13 The Landing at Harbor Pointe

Located at Harbor Pointe Marina, this open-air restaurant and bar is known for its relaxed atmosphere, unique cocktails and fantastic menu.  Come by for the weekly specials for the 2025 season & everyday menu dishes, new seasonal cocktails, beer, and wine.  With plenty of dock space and a spacious patio, it’s an ideal spot to unwind with friends while watching the sunset over Lake Martin. Whether you’re stopping in for a quick bite or spending the evening enjoying the lively crowd, The Landing is a must visit hangout on the lake.

#14 Bluffs Floating Daiquiri Bar 

Bluff’s Floating Daiquiri Bar is one of Lake Martin’s most unique and lively hangouts, offering boaters a refreshing stop for frozen daiquiris right on the water. This floating bar is a hotspot for those looking to cool off with a drink, have a cheese board, panini or a club sandwich and mingle with fellow lake lovers. Bluffs Lake Martin

#15 Cheeseburger Island

This small, sandy island got its name from the tradition of boaters cooking burgers on portable grills while enjoying the crystal-clear water.  With barely enough room for 3-4 boats to beach you should get there early if you want a spot on the shore.  Bring your lunch,  a cooler and and watch the world go by as you float or take in the scenic view.
